The main event at ASTRAL.7 DYNASTY features the first match in ASTRAL’s Megaton GP between Naoto Sugawara (4-1) and Borna Krk (3-0). Sugawara and Krk are both exciting fighters coming in with 3 fight win-streaks. Sugawara has the height and weight advantage and it will be interesting to see how Krk comes into this fight. Krk has been mixing his fights up with stand-up and ground and pound and is a very versatile fighter. Sugawara has a great stand-up and clinch game. This might very well be one of the most exciting fights in ASTRAL history. It will be very hard for Krk to finish the hulking Sugawara but in MMA, anything can happen.
Tiagong Akyat (3-1) faces off against the well rounded Tetsuhiro Uwano (3-0). Uwano is undefeated so far, but his only finish has come by way of submission. On the other hand, Akyat has won all his fights via submission. It will be interesting to see how Uwano plans to fight against the BJJ Brown Belt Akyat. Uwano will need a great game plan to counter Akyat’s ground game.
A featherweight match-up between Don Quixote (4-2) and Jigaro Kano (3-1) should feature a complex ground battle between both fighters. Their combined 7 wins all came via submission except for 1 decision garnered by Kano. Perhaps both fighters will change their styles and we’ll have a stand-up war; however, that is very unlikely but a BJJ grappling fight can be just as entertaining.
Joe Mcpaene (6-5) faces off against Kenshiro Yamamoto (9-9). Both are veterans of the fight game and are versed in submissions. Mcpaene holds a better ground game but Yamamoto is better-rounded and has more experienced. Will Yamamoto’s experience be a factor in this bout or will Mcpaene’s BJJ background take control of this fight?
Inuyasha Kagome (3-1) grants Otaku Senzuri (1-0) his wish when they face off at ASTRAL.7. Kagome is versed well in muay thai and wrestling while Senzuri has the boxing advantage. Look to see a brilliant finish in one of the night’s most exciting fights. Both fighters should look to have a stand-up war, though Kagome should have a slight skill and experience advantage.
Tatsuya Kimura (2-2) against David Tatum (2-1) features one of the most even fights in ASTRAL. Both fighters have very similar skill sets and records. Both are well-rounded and what this fight comes down to is their gameplans. Whoever has the right strategy for the fight should look to take the victory.
Yuko Shimaki (1-0) vs Lee Wong (2-2) features an up and comer in Shimaki. Shimaki is better-rounded than Wong, but Wong is an excellent muay thai specialist. If Shimaki can keep Wong guessing with takedowns and good striking, he should be able to take the fight. He should watch out for Wong’s kicks and submissions.
Fuji Yamasoto (0-1) squares off against Cain Laborina (2-0) in the welterweight division. Yamasoto is looking for his first win and Laborina is looking to continue his win streak. Yamasoto has the ground game advantage while Laborina has a solid stand-up. Laborina will need to sprawl against Yamasoto’s takedowns and keep the fight standing to get the win.
Akira Kambei (1-2) looks to win a big fight against Urban Keso (1-0). Kambei is riding a 2 fight losing streak and needs a win here to stay relevant in ASTRAL. Kambei has better wrestling and many feel that he actually has an advantage against Keso. Look for Kambei to get a much-needed victory if he can control the fight on the ground.
Julius Schoonover (0-0) takes his first professional fight against Hiroki Nakamura (0-2). Both fights are looking for their first win and thus should have a fire within them. Nakamura has the better striking ability so Schoonover will look to take the fight to the ground. Once again, the difference maker in this fight will be the takedown from Schoonover and the takedown defence from Nakamura.
